Georgian national team striker Giorgi Mikautadze, who shone at the European Football Championship, has re-signed with youth club Metz, where he was loaned out for the second half of last season.
Mikautadze, 23, grew up in France and has played for Metz since the age of 15. Before last season, he signed with Ajax Amsterdam, but he did not make a breakthrough there.
Halfway through the season, he returned to Metz and played 20 games and scored 13 goals in Ligue 1. However, the team was relegated, which meant that Mikautadze would play in the Ligue 1 (Ligue 2) next season.
The Georgian also showed good goal-scoring form in the UEFA Champions League final, scoring three goals to help his team advance to the last 16.
Metz spent 13 million euros to bring back the former player.
