Joan MacDonald, a 78-year-old Canadian woman, has transformed her life through physical activity and has captured the attention of social media with her impressive body transformation.

In 2017, Joan’s health failed. His body showed signs of wear and tear, which seriously affected his mobility. Climbing stairs was an impossible task due to his fragile bones and the high blood pressure he suffered from. However, he decided to make a radical change in his life.

The decision to change was made during a visit from his daughter Michelle, who lives in Mexico. Joan told The Daily Telegraph in 2023 that Michelle noticed her mother getting tired after climbing just five steps and realised a decision needed to be made.

Joan started with short exercise sessions and documented her progress on social media. Unwittingly, these videos made her an Internet celebrity and a role model for many older people who feel their age has limited them.

Over time, the results started to show. Joan went from being unable to climb stairs to being able to lift 35kg. “With every year that passes, I feel better. It’s like someone has stopped the clock: I’m not getting older,” she says proudly.

Currently a social media celebrity with 2 million followers on Instagram, Joan’s story inspires others to find the motivation to improve their health and well-being.

“A lot of people become fat because they are unhappy, but they can’t express it in words. Instead, they learn to live with it. That’s not healthy. Now I’m much happier,” he concluded.

Joan MacDonald shows that it’s never too late to make positive changes and that age is no barrier to living a healthy and active life.
