Omani teenagers compete in Asian U20 Track and Field Championships

Muscat: Omani athletes participated in the first Asian U20 Track and Field Championships held in the UAE from April 24 to 27. The Omani delegation consisted of five athletes competing in different events. The national sprinters began participating in the Asian event on the opening day.

Alaa Zajali finished fifth in the women’s 100m preliminaries with a time of 12.97 seconds. National sprinter Al Mulem Shukali finished fourth in the men’s 100m preliminaries with a time of 10.92 seconds. Alaa Zajali finished sixth in the women’s 200m preliminaries with a time of 26.78 seconds.

Mulem Shukeli finished fifth in the men’s 200m preliminaries in 22.28 seconds and qualified for the semifinals. In the semifinals, he finished the race in 22.27 seconds and ranked eighth.

Mansoor al Farsi competed in the 1500m with a time of 4:33:61 minutes. Shiekha al Hinai competed in the long jump and won the final with a score of 4.45 meters. Hajjan al Hajri finished 10th in the men’s hammer throw final with a score of 56.04 meters.

The Omani delegation was led by Asad Husni, Secretary General of the Oman Athletics Association (OAA). The delegation consisted of five athletes, including Al Mulhem Al Shukaili, Mansoor Al Farsi, Hajjan Al Hajri, Alaa Al Zadjali and Shiekha Al Hinai.
