Muscat: The Oman Under-17 football team boys started training on Saturday as part of the second phase of their domestic preparation camp. The initial camp took place earlier this month and the second phase began under the guidance of experienced national team coach Anwar al-Habsi. This phase will last until Wednesday at the Royal Palace Affairs Stadium in Muscat. The Oman U-17 men’s team will play against Al Amerat U-19 club on Tuesday as part of the ongoing camp. The warm-up match will be a good opportunity for the coaching staff to see how the players perform and is important for all young players to gain valuable match experience and apply training instructions in a competitive environment. The match against Al Amerat club will provide the team with an opportunity to test strategies, improve coordination and identify areas for improvement.

The purpose of the current internal training camp is to prepare the players for the upcoming 2025 AFC U17 Asian Cup qualifiers. Oman will face Tajikistan, Guam and hosts Singapore in Group J of the 2025 AFC U17 Asian Cup qualifiers. The qualifiers will be held in Singapore from October 19 to 27. The 10 group winners and the five best second-placed teams will advance to the finals, which will be held from April 3 to 20, along with hosts Saudi Arabia.
