Muscat: The number of passengers transported through the Sultanate of Oman airports increased by 16.4% to 4,901,796 passengers on 36,042 flights by the end of April 2024, compared to 4,209,846 passengers on 32,071 flights in the same period last year.
Preliminary statistics released by the National Center for Statistics and Information show that by the end of April 2024, the number of passengers traveling through Muscat International Airport reached approximately 4,430,119, an increase of 16.8%, and the number of flights was 32,520, an increase of 12.4%.
Among them, there were 29,862 international flights, carrying 4,097,728 passengers; and 2,658 domestic flights, carrying 332,391 passengers.
Indian nationals accounted for the largest number of passengers travelling through Muscat International Airport in April, with 89,206 inbound passengers and 83,855 outbound passengers, followed by Pakistani nationals with 21,191 inbound passengers and 19,532 outbound passengers, and then Bangladeshi nationals with 12,829 inbound passengers and 20,597 outbound passengers.
The number of passengers travelling through Salalah Airport reached 429,181, up 9.9% year-on-year, and the number of flights taken by passengers was 3,122, up 9.9% year-on-year.
There were 1,660 international flights taking off from Salalah Airport, carrying 214,934 passengers; there were 1,462 domestic flights, carrying 214,247 passengers.
The number of passengers passing through Sohar Airport reached 22,390 on 192 flights, while the number of passengers passing through Duqm Airport reached 20,106 on 208 flights. — ONA
