France/Ons Jabr, the Tunisian player ranked 10th in the WTA rankings, announced on Monday that she would withdraw from the Paris Olympics to protect her knee.

The 29-year-old, a three-time Grand Slam finalist, explained in a post on social media: “After consulting with the medical team regarding participation in the Paris Olympics, we have decided that the rapid change of surface and the physical intensity required to adapt would risk my knee and jeopardize the remainder of the season.

Jabr, who competed in the 2012 London Olympics, the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, added, “I always love to represent my country in any competition,” but “I have to listen to my body.” In 2023, she underwent surgery on her right knee.

This year at Roland Garros, on the Parisian clay courts where the Olympic trials will be held, Ons Jabr lost in the quarterfinals to American Coco Gauff.
