The Lulamba say the air bridge they have is not enough to compete with Kivu

What makes them happy is that in the past, they spent 3,000 reais to buy a motorcycle to harvest corn and sorghum for the round trip, but now there is a grinding wheel nearby because there is electricity.
“Now the machine started working, I went to work and immediately returned to my two offices saying I am crying for you today,” said Niramana. “I was given only 200 rupees when I was supposed to give 3,000 rupees and I quickly added it. We used to shave in Luramba and if we didn’t go there and wrap our hair in cloth, we would have to wait for the trip because you wouldn’t think of shaving.”
Currently, these residents want the road that leads from Kibeho to their homes and onwards to Nyamagabe to be repaired because the road is said to be damaged, making it difficult for them to reach Kibeho, especially since, so far, it is the only road they can rely on.
Marcelline Nyinawumuntu said: “We hope that the road will be well built and filled with cars, so that it will be easier for us to go out and do business, and we will also progress.”
Jean Marie Vianney Nizeyimana also said, “Even if you are not put on the sidewalk, but you are in good condition and standing, it will help us.”
They also want to repair the road that connects them to the Kivu region, as the previous road has fallen into disrepair, as well as the bridge over the Akyaru River that separates the two regions.
“We have no road connecting us to Kivu,” said Jean Bosco Ayirwanda. “They have set up an aerial bridge, but there is a place called Akanyaru where people are taken during the rainy season. If a man goes down, he reaches the top of Akanyaru and because there is no road, he trips and falls, which leads to his death.”
He went on to say: “I know eight people who fell in and were dead when they were pulled out. At least one road that can be passed by motorcycle or bicycle is working for us so that we can pass the overpass.
Nyaruguru District Mayor Dr Emmanuel Murwanashyaka said so far, they hope to be able to rehabilitate two roads, namely Kibeho-Mata-Ruramba-Nyamagabe, which is 33 kilometres long but 21 kilometres on the Nyaruguru side, and Kibeho-Rusuzumiro which continues via Kibeho Tea Factory to Muganza-Kivu Tea Factory, a total of 22.8 kilometres.
He said: “These roads are a cause of concern for us in Nyaruguru. We are liaising with other agencies to help us but we will continue to maintain it in the usual way.
As for the road linking Luramba to the Kivu region, Maya Muwanashyaka said the completion of the skybridge meant it would be impossible to build a bridge over the river because usually things in the air are the cheapest.
However, they will see if the road is cleared and motorcycles can pass through the flyover because otherwise it will affect their way through the flyover.
It takes advantage of vehicle connectivity to use another road that has been developed connecting the two areas.
