You can now find YYenichat, an AI chatbot for educators, students, and learners, on Google Playstore.
App creators Vitalis Haupindi and Lotto Nanghunda worked on the app while studying full-time at the Namibia University of Science and Technology.
The app was released after the school conducted several studies and secured funding.
The chatbot acts as a personal tutor for students and learners and allows users to ask any questions on a subject. Unlike other well-known generative AI technologies, YYeniChat allows users to ask follow-up questions to find answers on their own without compromising their cognitive abilities. The chatbot helps users with questions related to the Afrikaans language and was developed in a Namibian context.
According to the developers, the chatbot is designed to empower school teachers with the help of artificial intelligence. It enables teachers to teach more effectively by simulating a one-on-one teaching environment. The chatbot collects data as learners use the app and provides feedback and suggestions to teachers and parents on learners’ progress.
The first part of the chat augments the teacher’s work, and the second involves the AI teaching independently of the teacher through the user’s questions and input.
