With one day of competition left in the Athletics EC competition, Sweden has two clear medal chances.
About an hour after Armand Duplantis started the pole vault, it was time for Andreas Almgren and the men’s 10,000 meters.
– I would say that I feel responsible. I might be nervous tomorrow (reading on Wednesday). But now I feel safe and can cope with different situations and know how to deal with them in different ways, says the Swedish running star, who currently holds at least seven Swedish records.
I am in Budapest Last year, hopes were high that he would at least make the 5,000m final, but he ended up finishing just outside the quarterfinals by a few percent.

Afterwards, he was very disappointed and said he was too anxious when the game started to get tense at the end. However, at the Olympic Stadium, he will make a more mature decision.
– I feel safe in my “game plan” so I don’t feel worried there.
What kind of game do you think this will be?
– Things rarely go fast at EC. The haul distances can be long, but if someone is picking up the pace, you have to stay alert. As always with the 10,000, the outcome is decided when you approach the final few laps.
If someone moves early, will you notice or dare to wait?
– You can certainly let someone go, but it depends a little bit on who’s doing it. You know who your main competitors are, and if one of them succeeds, you want to be prepared for that.

Those people in his eyes The biggest threats are Dominic Lobaru (Switzerland), Thierry Ndiku Mwenayo (Spain), Jimmy Gressier (France) and Isaac Kimeli (Belgium).
– You keep track, it’s simple. If something halfway gets in your way, you know you can usually fix it pretty quickly, Almgren says.
In the past, he didn’t boast about being one of the golden candidates – nor was there anything wrong with the form.
– After the Bislet Games (5,000m on May 30) and Stockholm (3,000m at the Bauhaus Gala on June 2) I was obviously tired. But then I took two very easy days to recover and the last few days felt really good, so I was really ready.
The race starts at 21:44 in ondsagen.
fact.Andreas Almgren on his toughest rival
● Dominique Lobaru, Switzerland
Personal best 10,000m: 27.36,29.
– Lobalu competed in the Bislett Games, the Bauhaus Gala in Stockholm, and now the EC 5000m (where he won a bronze medal). I also discussed this possibility, but thought it was too difficult.
– He has won in the Diamond League and is a very good runner.
● Thierry, I’m with you, Spain
Personal best 10,000m: 27.26,57.
– He didn’t do well in the 10,000m, but he ran 12.48 in the 5,000m, so he shouldn’t be underestimated.
● Jimmy Gressier, France
Personal best 10,000m: 27.24,51
– Gressier set the European record for 10 km road earlier this year. He is a strong runner and was right behind me at 5,000 meters in Bislet.
● Isaac Kimery, Belgium
Personal best 10,000m: 27.07,97
– He ran 27 minutes for the 10,000 meters and 12.56 minutes for the 5,000 meters. So he’s a very strong runner as well.
* Andreas Almgren’s personal best in the 10,000m is 26/52/87.
