Björn Andri Pálsson, 24, put in a little effort and knitted a sweater with a picture of one of his favorite actor Brad Pitt’s scenes from the movie Fight Club. Björn said knitting gave him inner peace in his daily life, but he himself often had trouble concentrating, so it was nice to do something that calmed the mind.
Björn graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in High-Tech Engineering from Reykjavík University and currently works as a programmer at Pollard Digital Solutions (PDS). “I don’t think I started knitting until I was 22 or 23,” Björn said, adding that he likes cool clothes.
The beginning of weaving
The idea came from other knitted sweaters he had seen online. However, he couldn’t imagine buying any of them, so he took the plunge and decided to make one himself. “I had no idea how to start or what to make.”
“I had some help from my brother-in-law,” says Björn, who learned to knit mostly on his own and then mainly through the internet, YouTube and knitting apps, where he was able to design the sweater he wanted. He then designed a picture of Prad Pitt and came up with a recipe that he could follow.
Bjorn said he knitted the sweater himself first, but he took frequent breaks during the process. When the sweater was ready, he sewed the picture on. For a while he doubted he could finish the job, but halfway through, he stopped.
The sweater is now on display at the Gallerí Spuna store.
Dirty, twisted man seeks braiding advice
Needless to say, Björn has a lot of energy. He says he has many hobbies, including skiing, architecture, and cars. While making Brad Pitt sweaters, Björn took a break to knit a lamb hat that he wears while skiing in the mountains.
Björn recounts a funny incident when he accidentally entered the Galerí Spuna in Hamra Castle.
He had spent the day in the garage fixing crossovers before coming to the store. When this scruffy, twisted man walked through the door looking for yarn and advice, the store employees were a little alarmed.
sequel
Björn currently knits for fun. The ideas keep coming, and next he imagines knitting a dress with a dragon pattern for his girlfriend. But he doesn’t mind knitting unless it’s artistic. “I want a different element.”
In the near future, he aims to pursue a master’s degree and hopes that the weaving will continue on air.
Björn wanted to knit something different and would love to decorate clothes with intricate patterns or pictures.
