On August 4, the 39-year-old passed through security for the first time at Germany’s second-busiest airport.

Passengers had to scan their boarding passes at the automated gate, but he was standing next to another passenger and did not take her through, Bild reported.

He then slipped past airline staff at the gate and boarded the plane.

However, the plane was fully booked and the Norwegian was left exposed because he did not have his own seat. The man was handed over to police, who charged him but later released him, the newspaper said.

The Norwegian returned the next day and used the same method to board a plane to Sweden, police spokesman Sebastian Pinta said.

But when he arrived in Stockholm, he wanted to return to Munich immediately, which attracted the attention of airport staff and he was handed over to the police.

S. Pinta claimed the man posed no danger.

He added that the offenders were being investigated for illegal entry and fraud in the transport sector.

Munich Airport said it was investigating how the man bypassed security checks.
