At least 15 civilians, including many children, were killed in a drone strike in northern Mali, near the Algerian border, on Sunday, where the Malian army and its Russian allies suffered a heavy defeat against separatists and jihadists in late July.
“Army forces of the Malian junta and Russian mercenaries of the Wagner Group (…) launched several drone strikes from Tinzawatene, Burkina Faso, a few meters from Algerian territory”, the separatists reported a provisional assessment, killing 21 civilians, including 11 children. A local official told AFP that at least 15 civilians were killed. According to a local NGO official, “at least 20 civilians, including children, were killed by drone fire on Sunday.”
