Big changes are coming to Republikein’s Newcomer of the Year competition: not only will the four quarterly winners qualify for the finals early, but we also have a brand new show called “TrouRok & Roll” covering everything wedding and marriage related – no taboo topics – that will air on our social media platforms as well as on our DStv and GoTV channels!
The Republikein Bride of the Year competition has always been the pinnacle of wedding celebrations, capturing the essence of love, tradition and fun for over a decade.
The competition, which has been held annually for 12 years, has become a much-anticipated event, attracting couples from all backgrounds from all over Namibia.
At its core, the competition celebrates love and invites couples to showcase their unique stories and personalities. Beyond the glitz and glamour, it provides a platform for couples to share their journey towards marriage, highlighting their shared values, dreams and commitment.
This year’s competition was more multi-stage than ever, with couples first submitting their love stories and photos. A prestigious judging panel of community luminaries and wedding industry professionals then selected the finalists.
To make the competition more exciting and interactive, the finalists will face a series of challenges to capture their chemistry while interviews will delve into their relationship dynamics.
These moments not only showcase their compatibility but also give us a glimpse into the rich and varied love stories that exist in Namibia.
The finals, scheduled for May 2025 during the annual Tourism Expo, will be the culmination of months of planning and excitement, with the winner to be announced in front of friends and family.
As always, there will be plenty of prizes for the finalist couples, thanks to our generous sponsors.
The competition is a reminder of the power of love and the importance of marriage in Namibian culture, connecting generations and traditions.
Important Dates:
• Round 1: Couples married between March 1, 2024 and June 30, 2024 can enter until July 30, 2024.
• August 1: First TrouRok & Roll show (and every last Thursday of the month until April 24, 2025)
• Round 2: Couples married between June 1, 2024 and August 31, 2024 can participate, with the deadline being October 30, 2024.
• Round 3: Couples getting married between September 1 and November 30, 2024 can participate, with the deadline being January 29, 2025.
• Fourth and final round: Couples getting married between December 1, 2024 and February 28, 2025 can participate, with the deadline being March 26, 2025.
Don’t worry: if you didn’t register during the quarter you’re getting married, you can still register until March 26, 2025. However, the earlier you register, the better your chances of being a finalist!
