New Jersey Sunflower Season 2024

Welcome to New Jersey sunflower season! This charming flower blooms from late summer through October, brightening us all up with its vibrant colors. The Garden State is home to a number of exquisite farms that proudly display these tall, brilliant sunflowers. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, including pick-your-own farms, fascinating mazes, and more.

New Jersey Sunflower Guide 2024:

North Jersey:

New Jersey Sunflower Trail (Now open – Labor Day)
438 NJ-57, Washington, New Jersey (Warren County)
The New Jersey Sunflower Trail is now open to visitors. The Sunflower Festival will be held on July 27-28, August 3-4 and August 10-11, bringing summer excitement with food trucks, beer and wine gardens, live music, axe throwing and craft artists. Weekend fun on July 20-21 includes hay rides, an activity area and other food options, including beer from Buttzville Brewing Company. Weekday activities include exploring the Sunflower Trail, taking photos at more than 20 locations, picking fresh raspberries and peaches and visiting farm animals. Tickets start at $12.99 per person on weekdays, $14.99 on weekends and $19.99 during the festival.

Alstead Farm (Open now until October)
1 Alstede Farms Ln, Chester, NJ (Morris County)
Travel through Alstead Farm’s giant sunflower trails in bloom to see these giant beauties up close while snapping the perfect photo as a souvenir. Visiting the majestic sunflower trail is included with your pick-your-own ticket. Spend a day in the countryside picking fields and orchards and learn how food is grown. Take a scenic tractor-pulled carriage ride for plenty of panoramic photo opportunities. The sunflower trail is open daily during the season, typically July through October. Crops are subject to weather and may vary.

Otter Farm (now – end of August)
25 Bartley Road, Long Valley, New Jersey (Morris County)
From mid-July to the end of August, visitors have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the vivid beauty of sunflowers and enjoy the delightful experience of making their own DIY cut flower bouquets in this charming location. The Sunflower Trail is a picturesque backdrop, providing visitors with the perfect setting for unforgettable moments. The Early Bloom Weekend on July 19-20 and the Summer Festival on July 26-27 are highly recommended events, providing an opportunity for everyone to come together and celebrate the magnificent charm of summer.

Stone Mountain Farm (August)
8 Rte 24 (Rt 513), Chester, New Jersey (Morris County)
Stoney Mountain Farm covers over 2 acres and grows 8 varieties of sunflowers. In one of the sunflower fields, visitors can walk, linger, and take photos. In the second sunflower field, visitors can pick their own sunflowers.

Sussex Sunflower Maze (Open from mid-August to mid-September)
101 Co Rd 645, Sandyston, NJ (Sussex County)
Get ready to explore New Jersey’s premier sunflower maze, and the largest on the entire East Coast. Owned and operated by a dedicated family, this charming farm welcomes visitors from mid-August to mid-September each year. In addition to the stunning sunflowers, the farm also hosts an extraordinary large-scale pet adoption event every Labor Day weekend. You’ll also find a variety of delightful local vendors and fresh produce for purchase. Don’t forget to pick up a copy of their fascinating book, Sunshine and Sunflower Mazes, an original work available for purchase.

Broadheck Farm (Open in mid-August)
2 Branchville-Lawson Rd, Newton, New Jersey (Sussex County)
For more than four decades, three generations of the Brodhecker family have been an integral part of the vibrant agricultural community of Sussex County, New Jersey. Their diversified farm proudly raises a variety of livestock, including cattle, sheep, pigs, and chickens, while also growing a variety of crops such as hay, straw, mulch, corn, wheat, oats, and of course, sunflowers. Starting in mid-August, you can enjoy the opportunity to purchase these magnificent sunflowers, or take part in a delightful pick-your-own experience.

Central New Jersey:

Happy Farm (From now until August 25)
106 Iron Ore Rd, Manalapan, NJ
Happy Day Farms offers fun activities and stunning floral displays. Hours are Wednesday through Friday from 10am to 5pm, with extended hours on Saturday until 7pm, and closed as normal on Sundays. Visitors can enjoy refreshing snacks, feed the goats and chickens, and admission is $18 per person, which includes entry to the sunflower and zinnia fields. Cash only. Tractor pickup available. It is recommended to bring a lawnmower and bucket, and galvanized buckets are available for purchase

Arrowhead Farm (From now until August 4)
Spread over 15 acres, the sunflower fields at this Manalapan farm are a great place for photo opportunities. This year, visitors can look forward to a prehistoric journey, with a Tyrannosaurus Rex and other dinosaurs appearing in the fields. The Dino Festival will feature life-size dinosaur interactions, engaging dinosaur shows, live music and fascinating exhibits, giving visitors a deeper understanding of the world of these ancient creatures.

Clark Farm (From now until August)
416 Dunhams Corner Road, East Brunswick, NJ
You can pick your own sunflowers and zinnias and take pictures. If you forget to bring scissors, they can give you a pair. They recommend bringing a bucket of water.

Argos Farm Sunflower Festival (August)
Argos Farm, 1250 Lacey Road, Forked River, NJ
This annual sunflower festival features live music, delicious blueberry treats, summer photo opportunities and more! Tickets include: Live music Access to the event area with unlimited entry – double hay slide, bee zip line, giant jump air cushion, obstacle course, bullock cart, go-cart, ball area, wall ball, checkers, corn hole, tractor slide, giant chairs and photo opportunities.

Holland Ridge Farm (September 13 to October 14)
86 Rues Road, Cream Ridge, New Jersey (Monmouth County)
Gaze in wonder at fields of blooming sunflowers, gladioli, dahlias, lilies and chrysanthemums. Plus, there are special weekend events including a food truck festival, craft and live music festival, family fun weekends and floral sales.

Snyder Farms Sunflower Trail (October)
586 South Middlebush Rd, Somerset, NJ (Somerset County)
Snyder Farms’ U-Pick Sunflower Trail takes place during the Fall Festival weekend in October. To enter the trail, participants must have a Fall Festival ticket and pay $2 per sunflower. Snyder Farms offers a well-organized family fun day with pumpkin picking, fun activities and a variety of fall comfort foods. The Fall Festival runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends, with the last entry and carriage ride to the event site at 4:30 p.m. Please note that Snyder Farms is closed on Columbus Day.

Emery’s Farm (Starting at (Early September)
346 Long Marsh Road, New Egypt, NJ
Emery’s has been proudly growing and selling directly to customers for over 70 years. They are known for their famous pies, which are baked fresh daily and served seven days a week. In addition to pies, the shelves are filled with a variety of jellies, preserves, sauces, and other delicious treats, all packaged in glass jars. Fall is a great time to visit Emery’s Farm to see the cornfields, take a hay ride, and pick pumpkins.

Bullock Farm (Late September to October)
83 Emleys Hill Road, Cream Ridge, New Jersey (Monmouth County)
At Bullock Barn, families can enjoy a variety of activities together. Children can have a great time in the corn barn, straw hill, and children’s maze. They can also play on the converted grain truck with a slide. The barn is home to friendly animals such as donkeys, sheep, goats, chickens, rabbits, and ducks. Visitors can interact with these adorable animals. In addition, the barn has a large field full of beautiful sunflowers and zinnias, perfect for exploring and taking memorable photos.

South Jersey:

Timberline Farm (now – to be determined)
1413 Mays Landing Rd, Folsom, NJ (Atlantic County)
Every summer, the expansive 2-acre pick-your-own sunflower field comes to life and becomes a mesmerizing spectacle. With over 35,000 sunflowers carefully planted, the field is the perfect backdrop for picking sunflowers and creating memories with family and friends. To ensure a smooth and enjoyable visit, please book and purchase your tickets in advance to enter this stunning sunflower paradise.

Johnson Locust Farm (From now until October)
2691 Monmouth Rd., Jobstown, NJ (Burlington County)
Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm features two vibrant sunflower seasons, now through August and then from September through October. Visitors have the opportunity to pick their own sunflower bouquets on site, along with other seasonal produce.

Johnson’s Family Farm (August 1 – TBD)

If you are looking for a picturesque destination for a fun fall adventure, look no further than Johnson Farms. Johnson Farms is home to one of the most popular sunflower mazes in New Jersey. They have been growing sunflowers for years, and this year they wanted to show them to you in a whole new way. The Sunflower Celebration is a fun-filled experience that includes horse-drawn carriage rides, photo ops in the sunflower maze, and flower picking.

Dalton Farm (late August to October)
660 Oak Grove Rd, Swedesboro, NJ (Gloucester County)
Enter the farm and admire the rows of stunning sunflowers, carefully cultivated over many years to create a variety of stunning varieties. Every weekend, there are plenty of flowers waiting for you to enjoy. Capture precious moments in the sunflower fields and pose for colorful doors, butterfly wings or Dalton Farm frames at hidden photo stations. On weekends, you can enjoy local music, delicious food, wine tasting and boating.

Sunset Flower Farm （Fall (TBD)
550 Hands Mill Road, Belle Plains, New Jersey
Sunset Flower Farm prides itself on the quality, freshness, and appearance of its cut flowers. Standout varieties grown on the farm include peonies, sunflowers, and hydrangeas. To ensure the best quality, the team often picks flowers early in the morning or late in the evening, ensuring long-lasting freshness for customers. Hill Creek Farm (Opening on September 13)
1631 State Highway 45, Mullica Hill, New Jersey
Hill Creek Farms is a family-owned and operated U-Pick farm with an on-site bakery, special events venue, winery, farmers market and a host of friendly activities. Kids can enjoy the barrel train, gem mining company, playground and face painting.
