Údarás na Gaeltachta has announced that Ruairí Ó Néill has been appointed as the organisation’s director of corporate services.

In his new role, Rueri will be responsible for finance, property, human resources and legal departments. He will also continue to work in the field of artificial intelligence.

Ruairí has ​​extensive experience in the Gaeltacht region, having previously served as Project Manager from 2019 to 2022 and previously as Western Region Manager. In this role he was responsible for enterprise development, community development organisations and public employment programmes in the Gaeltacht region of Connacht and Leinster.

Ruairí has ​​extensive experience in various business and development sectors. He is the founder of Solar Structures, a company focused on designing and building innovative structures to install solar panels in various locations. Previously, he was CEO of Colmcille Credit Union for 11 years and worked as a senior consultant at Deloitte.

Commenting on the appointment, Tomás Ó Siocháin, CEO of Údarás na Gaeltachta, said Ruairí had extensive experience in senior roles across a range of sectors including advisor, financial leader, CEO and entrepreneur.

“He will play a central role in strengthening the organisation’s digital presence, which will be fundamental to the development of the whole Gaeltacht region, the language, the individual communities and in tackling the age of artificial intelligence.”

Ruairi O’Neill said he was looking forward to the challenge and the possibilities of using technology and artificial intelligence to improve services and development in the Gaeltacht.

He said: “I firmly believe that we can use innovation to strengthen and develop our Gaeltacht communities.”
