NIA CHARLESTON, Nevis – The Nevis Island Authority (NIA) Department of Finance, through the Nevis Investment Promotion Authority (NIPA) and the Nevis Financial Services (Regulation and Supervision) Department (FSRC) Nevis Division, will host a series of events under the theme “Mobilizing Opportunities for Effective Financial Planning” to mark the 40th anniversary of the international financial services industry in Nevis.
Nevis Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the National Investment Authority, Mark Brantley, said this is an important milestone that all Nevisians can and should be proud of.
“It started in 1984. You will recall that it was the brainchild of our first Prime Minister, a national hero, Sir Simeon Daniel, and then in 1994, under the leadership of former Prime Minister, the late Honourable Vance Amory, the sector grew exponentially and now, we will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the sector in 2024.”
He said the industry had become an important pillar for diversifying the economy and boosting job opportunities in other sectors such as tourism and construction.
In addition to the event, the Nevis FSRC will also launch a 40th anniversary magazine.
“We are pleased to invite various businesses on the island who would like to be involved in the celebratory magazine that we are producing, so we are asking businesses to participate and advertise in the commemorative issue that we are producing. I am told the cost is very reasonable. A full page ad is EC$1,000, a half page ad is EC$500 and a quarter page ad is EC$250,” said Prime Minister Brantley.
The magazine will highlight various sectors of the economy and will serve as a marketing tool for Invest Nevis. Businesses can contact Invest Nevis at 469-0038 or 662-8411.
