Nearly 200 people tried to illegally cross the Belarusian-Polish border between August 9 and 11. This was reported by the Polish Border Guard Service.
“From August 9 to 11, nearly 190 attempts to illegally enter Poland were recorded at the Belarusian border,” said a message posted on the service’s X-page, formerly Twitter.
Some migrants threw rocks and sticks at border guards, according to the department.
Polish authorities reported a 70% drop in illegal entry attempts from Belarus after the creation of buffer zones on several sections of the border in mid-June. The number of such defectors has averaged 20 to 50 per day over the past two months. According to the Border Guard Service, more than 21,800 cases of illegal border crossings have been registered since the beginning of 2024.
