The Avengers successfully extended their Olympic title. In the final held in Paris, the United States defeated the host France 98-87. The big man was Stephen Curry, who scored 24 points.

LeBron James and his team had a hard time knocking out Nikola Jokic’s Serbia in the semifinals, so they were wary of France. Led by super-talented Victor Wembanyama, they beat world champion Germany, which had triumphed over the United States in the previous World Cup.

So, a good start was the message to the national coach Steve Kerr’s team, which created a brilliant start. Text Yama immediately scored five points, and the US team kept the rhythm in the fierce court. When the home player Guerschon Yabusele put James on the poster for a dunk, it caused a sensation.

However, the United States was always better than France. They grabbed rebounds, played more resolute defense, and took advantage of the Blues’ lost ball opportunities. They led 49-41 at halftime, mainly due to Curry’s outstanding performance and Devin Booker’s 13 points.

The Americans seemed to be in complete control of the game in the third quarter. They scored fourteen points, culminating in a dunk by Anthony Edwards off a pass from Kevin Durant.

But France, winged by a frenzied home crowd, trailed by just six points going into the final 10 minutes. Anthony Edwards’ last-second miss showed the U.S. wasn’t done yet.

The stunt never seemed to actually come to fruition. Curry maintained control and drained two 3-pointers, while James and Anthony Edwards also shut out France. But in the end, some mistakes by the United States gave France hope. A lead that seemed safe at around 10 points suddenly shrank to just three points at 82-79…

Curry then revived and hit a three-pointer to give the “Avengers” some breathing room. Durant then made two free throws to make the score 87-79. And “Chef Curry” wasn’t done yet. He hit three more three-pointers (eight total) with icy calmness into the net to help the United States win the Olympic basketball championship 98-87.
