As announced by the Presidency, the Head of State stressed in his speech: Moldova It is now at a crossroads in deciding its future and the future of the country depends only on the decision of its people.
Lithuania saw the opportunity and took advantage of it – it chose the European Union, NATO, the Euro-Atlantic family of freedom-loving nations, the president said.
“Lithuania’s accession to the EU has become a real success story, and I hope that Moldova will also take advantage of this opportunity. (…) Today, as a proud member of the EU family, Lithuania at the same time remains Lithuanian – a better and stronger Lithuanian state, an independent state that cares not only about its own well-being, but also about the well-being of its neighbors and friends,” the President said.
The Lithuanian leader urged the Moldovan people to continue on the European path, implement necessary reforms and strengthen the country.
“Lithuania is ready to help you. We are ready to share our experience and offer proven solutions. We will also continue to support you in security and defense. Why should we do this? The answer is simple: Lithuania wants Moldova to succeed and prosper. After all, we know that Moldova’s place is in Europe”, the head of the country said.
In October this year, Moldova will hold a referendum on joining the European Union.
