WASHINGTON: NATO allies will pledge to support Ukraine on an “irreversible” path to integration and call on China to end all support for Russia’s war efforts against Kiev, according to a draft joint communique seen by Reuters on Wednesday.
China has become a decisive enabler of Russia’s war in Ukraine and Beijing continues to pose a systemic challenge to Europe and security, according to a draft communique being prepared for a NATO summit in Washington.
The draft communiqué said that NATO countries intend to provide Ukraine with at least 40 billion euros in funds in the next year and establish a mechanism to coordinate the provision of military equipment and training to Ukraine.
The draft said the allies would pledge to support Ukraine’s full integration into the Euro-Atlantic alliance, including joining NATO. The draft said an invitation to join NATO would be extended to Kiev after the allies agreed and met the conditions.
