The batch of civil servants includes 796 newly recruited personnel, including 122 female staff. The training class consists of teacher researchers, court auditors, chief clerks, student civil servants and IT technicians who will participate in the training that will start on February 19, 2024 at the Bapho Training Center.
Since June, these civil servants have been undergoing training as per the Army Common Basic Training Scheme. They have gone through strenuous activities with courage and determination to develop a taste for effort and a spirit of camaraderie. The training not only acquaints the recruits with the physical, intellectual and moral capabilities to perform the basic acts of a soldier, but also makes them aware of how to serve the country loyally through a series of programmes such as the Regulations of Service in the Army (RSA), Soldier Instructions (IST), Military Sports, Topography, etc. Private Amadou SANGA, Student Civil Servant (Customs Inspector) was the valedictorian of this promotion.
In his speech, the Director of the National Youth Service, Colonel Timoko Camara, stressed that the six-month Bapho allows young soldiers to acquire military knowledge and develop basic skills for a professional training in the armed forces. He had the opportunity to pay tribute to the leadership of the Head of State, who allowed the resumption of training for civil servants of the State, the community and the magistrates’ institutions.
Given that the SNJ’s mission is to contribute to the improvement of the educational, sports, civic and professional training of young people, with a view to their effective and full participation in the country’s economic, social and cultural development, its alumni have not remained on the margins of activity. The President of the SNJ Association of Elderly Persons, Boubou DIALLO, took the opportunity to reaffirm the commitment of the elderly to achieve their goals in partnership with the transitional authorities. He invited all Malians to commitment, sacrifice and national cohesion.
For Abdoul Kassim Ibrahim FOMBA, Minister of Youth and Sports in charge of civic education and citizen building, this training is a testament to the role of the National Youth Service in promoting youth service. He also announced that compulsory military service allows public servants to develop the qualities and skills to properly perform their duties.
The minister confirmed that the recruits had successfully completed their compulsory military service, before adding that they are capable of serving in all branches of public administration and are ready to defend the motherland.
Transitional President Colonel Assimi Gouta stressed that the exit of the 5th SNJ represents the civic commitment of Malian youth to serve the country. He added that it contributes to strengthening the strategic and mobilizable reserve of citizens for the defense of the homeland.
The Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces praised the Malian people for their resilience, support and solidarity with FAMa, while expressing gratitude to the leaders of the program for their dedication that made it a success. He urged the new recruits to the public service to show rigor, determination and commitment to defend the motherland, stressing that the purpose of compulsory military training is to prepare the people to defend the motherland in any situation and anywhere.
The ceremony was marked by a promotion venue and a military parade.
