National Day: Preparations are proceeding in an orderly manner

Libreville, Thursday, August 15, 2024 (Gabon News) – Gabon is actively preparing to mark the 64th anniversary of its accession to international sovereignty in historical memory, joy, atmosphere and conviviality, while the main climax will be the grand parade scheduled for August 17, 2024 on the seaside promenade.

In order to proudly host the 64th Independence Day event, which is also the first in the era of the Institutional Transition and Restoration Commission (CTRI), a body called the National Independence Day Committee (CNFI) was created, chaired by Mr. Pascal Yama Lendoye, a man of great experience. In addition, on August 8, he convened his people, the leaders of all the subcommittees set up to make this historic event, full of the symbol of the Gabonese people, the desired success.

Thus, the major cleaning work that the municipality has been carrying out for months in the city of Libreville continues, including the cladding and renovation of streets, cleaning of drains, etc. Mr. Pascal Yama Lendoye, at the end of his inspection of the various sites on Sunday, August 11, remained confident and estimated that the completion rate of the sites would exceed 50%. Despite this, he insisted on the commitment of the companies to undertake this task, especially in terms of the quality of the work and the delivery dates.

There is also the enhancement of public lighting and the placement of flags at various strategic locations. Mr. Sylvain Lindzondzo Dina, in his capacity as consultant, also gave assurances on the arrangements before the planned date.

“We have addressed all the issues related to the correct organization of the August 17 celebrations in many areas, especially culture, sports, risk prevention and many others. We have seen with the security subcommittee all the measures that can be taken to ensure good organization in terms of safety and prevention of unexpected events.”

For his part, Professor Jean Felix Ngoma Koukady, Chairman of the Health Subcommittee, gave assurances that the regulations adopted were within his competence. “We have selected five ambulances, each with a doctor, at least two nurses, a team member and an ambulance driver. In addition, we have Red Cross volunteers and mobile teams that will act as emergency medical posts,” he added.

The hospital institutions selected to participate in the celebrations on August 17, 2024 include: Owendo University Hospital, CHUL, Omar Bongo Ondimba Army Training Hospital.

Please note that as part of the preparations for the National Day holiday, beautification is taking place in the main cities of Gabon. In Libreville, for example, the actions of the organizers are visible on electric poles, billboards, public gardens, main intersections and other places where we can see the flag of the Republic, the coat of arms and the national emblem, garlands of lights and other decorative accessories.
