National Assembly: Parliament ends: Luis Omar Ortega sworn in – National

Panama City/One month after the installation, the plenary meeting National Assembly Finally completed with 71 Members in a function.

The formation of Parliament has gone through a period of controversy and challenges, culminating on Monday afternoon when MPs were sworn in. Luis Omar Ortega of Circuit 8-2, San Miguelito.

The seat was contested; however, after lengthy hearings and appeals, Ortega was awarded the seat that was being fought for by former Rep. Zulay Rodriguez.

Friday, July 30 Electoral tribunal declares Ortega the winner after rejecting appeal filed by former deputy Rodriguez Oppose the decision of the Second Administrative Electoral Court to dismiss the lawsuit challenging Ortega’s proclamation.

Notably, Rodriguez called for a new election in the 8-2 circuit after raising the issue of discrepancies in the vote counts of nine polling stations, namely 4672, 4682, 4757, 4815, 4818, 4894, 4902, 4916 and 5114.

Luis Omar Ortega, current representative Belisario FriasHe entered the plenary session in a wheelchair, becoming the first disabled person to attend a legislative plenary session.

The deputy authorizes his replacement, Juan Domingo Diaz Concepcionwho was also sworn in at the plenary session today.

With Ortega’s arrival in the plenary session, he joined the bench of the ruling party “To achieve the goal” and completed the group composed of:
