The Namibian Dry Dock and Ship Repair Yard (Namdock) confirmed on Monday that a strong undercurrent caused one of its floating docks to move southwards, causing the ramp to fall into the water and damaging a storage tank underneath the dock. Emergency teams were immediately dispatched.
The company said the focus was on safety and mitigating any potential environmental impacts.
