Nepal Aviation Authority assured the public that the exercise was completely simulated and posed no danger to passengers or personnel.
The Namibia Airports Company (NAC) successfully completed a full-scale emergency exercise at Hosea Kutako International Airport last week.
Air Namibia said the emergency drill simulated a bomb on board an Air Namibia passenger plane, while the second and third drills simulated a bomb threat and a hostage situation in the airport’s Terminal 2, respectively.
Nepal Airlines said the main purpose of the exercise was to test and assess the efficiency and effectiveness of the airport’s emergency response procedures, coordination between agencies, and overall preparedness of airport personnel. Nepal Airlines further assured the public that the incidents were completely simulated and posed no danger to passengers or staff.
“The safety of all involved was strictly prioritized throughout the exercise, which was part of the airport’s emergency response procedures, coordination and overall preparedness.”
NAC Chief Executive Officer Bisey/Uirab expressed satisfaction with the successful completion of the emergency response exercise.
“We remain committed to ensuring the safety of all our airports and as part of that commitment we continually coordinate various exercises to ensure our preparedness for emergencies is first class.”
He added: “I am pleased that we have completed this exercise and from now on we can start addressing the issues that have been identified to ensure that these gaps are closed as quickly as possible.”
The NAC further noted that it appreciated the cooperation and commitment of the various entities and agencies participating in the exercise.
