I was delighted to read yesterday, July 29, the inscription in Oslobođenje, entitled “Rosensaft criticizes Israeli ambassador who denies Srebrenica genocide: They better think you’re stupid”.
Mr. Menachem Rosensaft is a staunch friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
A former prominent leader of the World Jewish Congress (WJC), professor at the most prestigious universities in the United States and the world on the subject of Holocaust studies, felt it his duty to contact his friends in Bosnia and make contact regarding the attack by the Israeli ambassador of Serbia, who once again denied that a genocide had taken place in Srebrenica. This is what true friends do – they defend the truth and their friends!
As early as 2019, an official of the World Jewish Organization (SJK) told Oslobođenje that the world’s important Jewish organizations would help with construction and arrangements, as well as publicize the truth about the Srebrenica genocide. Promise – done.
Rosensaft has made numerous appearances around the world documenting his attacks on all critics who deny the Srebrenica genocide. He is a friend, a man of his words, who today calls some of the employees of the Srebrenica Memorial Center brothers. I have learned from reliable sources that many leaders in the political world of Bosnia and Herzegovina highly appreciate the contribution that Rosensaft has made through his speeches and direct addresses to all those who deny the genocide.
An emotional video message from Rosensaft to friends was recorded during the commemorations in Srebrenica. As friends have proven many times to date, he found it safe for Rosensaft to address the “people of Bosnia and Herzegovina” and protect them from the Israeli ambassador to Serbia.
He did the same thing when an Israeli “scientist” wrote an erroneous assessment that no genocide had occurred in Srebrenica. Once again, the world heard the World Jewish Congress defend the truth about Srebrenica and not allow historical facts to be twisted to suit anyone. Many should have stood up to defend the truth that is known to all, but Rosen Security did it at a difficult time.
It is not difficult for the professor to address his friends in Bosnia and Herzegovina again and again, telling them what some others should have said but did not.
After the pro-Palestinian protests in Sarajevo, their friend, former president of the World Jewish Congress, but still a friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina, called. Here is what Rosensaft said on N1 on November 4, 2023, in an interview with Nikola Vučić:
“I express my deep sympathy and pain for every Palestinian civilian victim in Gaza, but Israel has no choice but to eliminate Hamas. It cannot be debated that Hamas is a genocidal terrorist organization.”

“While I heard people expressing concern for Palestinian civilians in Gaza at demonstrations in Sarajevo and elsewhere, I did not hear concern for the Israeli Jews killed by Hamas on October 7, nor did I hear any condemnation of Hamas’ brutality. This is a serious problem for me.”
Yes, my dear friend. This is a problem for many of us who are paying attention to what is happening in the world today.
Friends, true friends, those who look the truth in the face and are not afraid to speak it out, have the right to say what our friend Rosensaft said: “Ambassador Viland obviously does not care how his statements affect the small Jewish community in Bosnia and Herzegovina”.
For me personally, the above statement by Rosensaft is at the core of many doubts, fears and misunderstandings that plague those who want to understand and analyze what is happening in the regions that were received from the Muslim Ottoman Empire where the Jews live in peace and in cooperation with all their neighbors.
At my age of 78, nothing can surprise me anymore. I only know that I will not give up on what I have been writing for Oslobođenje for five years. If the ideas I wrote with love for all of us are wrong, it is not my fault, but the fault of all those who contributed to this. I will not give up on my friends, those who did not leave me, no matter what they belong to now, country, citizenship, etc.
I am not ashamed of anything, not my ideas nor the love I have for you all!
