Namibian police had their hands full this weekend, with a number of murders reported across the country.
On Saturday, an argument in Tsumeb left Gurney Elrich Uirab dead after he was stabbed in the abdomen with an unknown object. He later died in hospital, according to police. A 27-year-old suspect was arrested.
In Omutia, Andreas Lukas, 46, fell and hit his head on a wall.
The crime report stated that Lucas died after being rushed to Omutia Regional Hospital. The deceased was allegedly chasing someone with a traditional dagger before falling. Lucas reportedly stabbed the 32-year-old man from behind in the hip and head.
While being chased, the man turned and grabbed the deceased, causing him to fall and hit his head. The man has been arrested and is expected to appear in the Ondangwa Magistrates’ Court today.
Thief allegedly attacked
In Enawa village in Omusati area, the suspects caught an unidentified man “breaking into an illegal bar” before beating him on the head and body with an iron rod.
“The victim reportedly suffered multiple injuries to his body and an open wound on his head. He was rushed to Oshakati State Hospital in a critical condition. No arrests have been made. Police investigations are continuing.”
A 30-year-old woman was reportedly brutally attacked by her boyfriend during an argument in Stamprit on Saturday.
“The suspect allegedly stabbed his girlfriend multiple times in the head, chest, right shoulder and left arm after an argument. The girlfriend was seriously injured. She was rushed to the Mariental State Hospital and is currently hospitalized. No arrests have been made yet,” the report said.

Several thefts also occurred over the weekend.
On Saturday, the suspects allegedly broke into a residence in Little Windhoek using a screwdriver. They stole an HP laptop, a MacBook, an iPad, a Samsung Galaxy Note 10, two iPhones, two iPhone watches, a Mondaine Swiss watch and two television sets with a total value of nearly N250,000. No stolen goods have been recovered or the suspects arrested, but investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, on Friday, a suspect broke into a shop in Enawa village in the Omusati region using an unknown object and stole items worth more than N$17,000. No arrests have been made so far.
On the same day, a motorist in Wanaheda was confronted by thieves who stole his iPhone 13 Pro Max through his car window. The phone was valued at N$26,000.
