Mr Hun Manet urged young people to learn about technical and vocational training

According to the news on June 11, 2024, Mr. Hun Manet said that the Royal Government encourages young people to receive short-term, fast and effective technical and vocational training. The government emphasizes that this training skills are combined with the theory and practice of enterprises and institutions with specific skills.

The Cambodian head of government said that when young people have clear skills, they will be able to find a job with a decent income or be self-employed, keep their income stable, and help themselves and their families escape poverty and risks.

In this regard, Mr. Hun Manet called on all stakeholders, including ministries, agencies, educational institutions, development partners and the private sector, to engage in promoting and encouraging students and youth to better understand the importance of technical and vocational training.

Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training spokesman Kataan said at a press conference on June 12 that the seventh National Technical and Vocational Education and Training Day in 2024 will change the mentality of the public, especially young people, to learn social sciences and study professional technical skills that are urgently needed in the Cambodian labor market.

The spokesperson also mentioned that this year’s National Day will strengthen cooperation among 37 technical training institutions across the country to attract target young people to learn more vocational skills.

It is worth noting that the number of people aged 15 to 24 in Cambodia who are eligible for technical and vocational training is expected to increase between 2023 and 2028. Therefore, Cambodia must continue to attach great importance to technical and vocational training. This is according to Mr. Hun Manet.
