VERONA, Italy: Juventus said they pressed their opponents aggressively and showed great teamwork after beating Verona 3-0 in Serie A on Monday, praising his players for their performance.
Juventus put in another impressive performance to move to the top of the standings as they beat newly promoted Como 3-0 in last week’s season opener.
“You can tell the attitude of this team by the way they press their opponents. They take risks but if you win the ball back it’s a huge advantage,” Motta told DAZN.
“Congratulations to Dusan (Vlahovic) and also to everyone else who put pressure on us and helped us score.
“This phase of the game is very important and we need everyone to cooperate. Our forwards played hard and well today. It is very important to maintain this balance because it allows us to play like we did tonight.”
Forward Vlahovic scored twice to help Juventus win easily.
“He is a positive leader in the team,” added Motta.
“He plays for the team, runs a lot and above all he is a player who knows how to score goals. I am very happy with him and he has to continue like this.”
The Serbian striker scored his first Serie A goal since April and seemed happy to be back on target
“We got the three points and I’m happy for Nicolo Savona, for the team and for the fans,” Vlahovic said.
“I was a bit unlucky in Como, but today I scored and I’m happy with the attitude of the team. The result is the result of our hard work.”
The 24-year-old was the league’s second-highest scorer last season with 16 goals and he created a number of chances against Como, including a goal that was disallowed for offside.
In Verona, Vlahovic looked to have a hat-trick when he almost headed home Savona’s header.
“Vlahovic told me he didn’t touch the ball and he gave it to me and I was very happy, especially for the team’s victory,” Savona said.
“(Scoring a goal) is an absolute dream and hopefully we can keep going like this”.
Savona, 21, made his first start against Verona last week after coming off the bench at half-time.
