In mid-June, the Klaipeda Regional Court found businesswoman Ramuna Aliyev guilty of murdering her husband and sentenced her to 15 years in prison. The decision has not yet come into force and is under appeal, but the judge hearing the case ordered the immediate imprisonment of R. Aliyev, although before that the woman was free. The convict’s lawyer tried to appeal the arrest, but the court did not even accept the appeal: at least in the near future, the businesswoman will remain in prison. The lawyer of the convicted “Delphi” said that such a situation occurred due to loopholes in the law, so he promised to apply to the European Court of Human Rights.
