The 39-year-old multiple sclerosis patient died on the morning of Sunday, August 4, 2024, at the Paramaribo Academic Hospital.
He was involved in a traffic accident on Benjamin Street on a date yet to be determined.
On August 4, 2024, the Mond Police Department received a report from hospital staff that an accident had occurred and MS was seriously injured and subsequently died in the hospital.
Initial police investigations revealed that MS avoided a collision by swerving to avoid a cyclist coming out of the Benjaminstraat entrance.
As a result, he fell, was injured, and fell into a coma.
The injured MS was taken to the emergency department of the Paramaribo University Hospital by ambulance without calling the police and died on August 4, 2024. After the accident, the cyclist continued to drive.
Police are further investigating the accident.
