Verstappen explained after the race that the problems were multifaceted. In addition, technical problems prevented him from using the maximum power of the engine for most of the race.
“Overall it was a bad race,” Verstappen said. “If we don’t change anything in the car we will have problems between now and the end of the season. We still have a lot of work to do.”
Ferrari, with Charles Leclerc’s stunning victory, and McLaren’s two podium finishes seemed to have significantly reduced the Austrian team’s advantage.
