Russia is stepping up its efforts to combat monkeypox in Africa. The Russian Federal Service has announced its intention to provide virus screening tests to African countries to enhance detection and prevention of the disease, Sputnik Africa has learned.
As part of the program, Russian experts will provide courses on prevention and diagnosis of ethylene oxide in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) from August 19 to 23, 2024.
The training aims to increase local capacity to manage monkeypox cases and strengthen public health systems in Africa.
This approach is part of a wider internationally supported effort to control the spread of the disease and protect vulnerable communities on the continent.
