As the 29th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica on 11 July 1995 approaches, preparations are drawing to a close for events around the world to commemorate the victims and their families.
Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the United States of America mark this date and other important dates for Bosnia and Herzegovina and its citizens according to tradition. However, one of the events in memory of the victims of the Srebrenica genocide has caused great dissatisfaction among our diaspora. The event, organized by the Congress of Bosniaks in North America (KBSA), the Islamic Community of Bosniaks in North America (IZBSA) and the Illinois Holocaust Museum, will take place on July 13, 2024.
Angry citizens rallied around the #JusticeForSrebrenicaNoCompromise initiative and launched a petition of the same name.
We are reproducing their statement in full this time.
– On the 29th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, it is necessary for us to recall our values and our commitment to commemorate the victims and survivors of the Bosnian genocide and to reaffirm our unequivocal support for the Palestinian people.
As we look forward to this event as we do every year, the Congress of Bosniaks in North America (KBSA) has decided to join forces with several Zionist organizations to Upcoming Srebrenica genocide commemorationsscheduled to be held on July 13, 2024.
These organizations include: Illinois Holocaust Museum I World Jewish Congress (WJC) – Jewish diplomatic corpsShe is the co-organizer of this event Islamic Community of Bosnia in North America (IZBSA).
What you need to know:
The World Jewish Congress and the Illinois Holocaust Museum are well known for their financial and diplomatic support for Israel and their active support for Israel’s genocide against Palestinians. The decision to collaborate and partner with deniers and supporters of the Palestinian genocide is shameful, casts a shadow on our memory of the victims of the Srebrenica genocide, and is an insult to us survivors.
participate:
We invite you to call on KBSA and IZBSA to reconsider their decision to include the above-mentioned organizations in this event, thereby ensuring that the victims of the Srebrenica genocide are duly honored and that this event is not allowed to serve as a platform for those who support Palestinian crimes and genocide.
Sign this petition To show your support today, we will extend the same support to KBSA and IZBSA.
O WJC-u:
As of October 2023, the WJC has not condemned: Detention of Palestinian children, More than 37,000 people were killed and more than 85,000 Palestinian civilians were injured, including more than 7,000 childrenbut the real figures are certainly much higher, schools or hospitals have been bombed; nor have they been recorded by the IPC as preventing essential assistance, nor as deliberate and targeted starvation The biggest crisis hotspot in feeding the world’s people.
The World JC has made it clear that it does not support the International Criminal Court and the Human Rights Council United NationsFerronickel United Nations General Assemblyany decision to hold the perpetrators of Israeli war crimes accountable and openly oppose any form of self-determination for the Palestinian people.
About the Illinois Holocaust Museum:
While the Illinois Holocaust Museum has worked with our community on a variety of exhibits documenting our stories, they have overlooked an important lesson from our experience: perpetrators of genocide, whether individuals or nations, must be held accountable without exception. The museum’s failure to call for a ceasefire and hold perpetrators accountable is unacceptable.
Or KBSA and IZBSA:
KBSA Reserved Very quiet during the Gaza genocide, even though they claim to represent Bosnians in North Americawhich also includes Palestinian Bosniaks and Bosniaks. Despite repeated calls and requests for dialogue from the Bosniak community, KBSA and its management decided to shut down comments on social media and block community members who raised issues.
IZBSA made no excuse Maintaining the trust of our community in working with these Zionist groups.

How do we honor the victims and survivors of Srebrenica while providing a platform to those who currently deny and defend another genocide?
Let us unite behind the principles of justice and responsibility for the victims and survivors of the genocide in Srebrenica and Bosnia and Herzegovina, rather than settle for empty slogans.
“We who survived the horrors of the genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as descendants of Holocaust survivors, organizers and members of the Bosnian diaspora, firmly uphold the principles of justice, responsibility, human rights and solidarity,” the Bosnian Citizens of North America said in a statement.
