July 11 is the International Day of Remembrance of the Srebrenica Genocide, and Ṣ̌vicarska will hold a number of events to mark the day.

Through different forms of expression, different ways of expressing ourselves and one mission, we aim to send a clear and unique message: do not forget Srebrenica.

The first event in the series will take place in the city of Zug in central Switzerland on Saturday, June 29. For the third year in a row, the local Zug diocese is organizing the peace walk in one of Switzerland’s most important cantons/cities, home to many international companies.

On Sunday, June 30, a commemorative procession will be held in western Switzerland, which is traditionally organized by the Neuchatel dẓ̌emat and is larger in scale.

On Friday, July 5, at Zurich’s famous Helvetiaplatz, a meeting will be held with distinguished guests from the Bosnian-Hercegovinian society, representatives of the Bosnian Embassy and Swiss politicians, organized by the NGO Glas za Bosnu.

The last rally dedicated to the Srebrenica genocide will be held on July 11 in the central square in front of the UN headquarters organized by Ẓ̌emat Ẓ̌eneva.

– Considering that this is the first time that July 11 has been officially included in the UN international calendar as the Srebrenica Genocide Remembrance Day, it is certain that a series of these manifestations will create synergy, and next year, our Swiss colleague Mensud Alićušić tells us that the thirtieth anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide should be commemorated with some core manifestations, most appropriately in Bern, the capital of Ṣ̌vicarska.

He added that fostering a culture of memory is a minimum debt owed to the victims of the genocide and their next of kin.
