Sudan will not accept communications from countries and organizations with the Rapid Support Forces following the “Wadnura” massacre that killed 180 civilians, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Thursday.
On Wednesday, the Rapid Support Forces used heavy artillery to launch a violent attack on the village of “Nura” in the 24th Kulash district of Peninsula State, a massacre that has drawn widespread condemnation from civil forces and the public. The United Nations called for an investigation and accountability for the perpetrators.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement received by Sudan Tribune that “the heinous massacre committed by the Janjaweed militia, which claimed the lives of more than 180 unarmed villagers, including women and children, is one of the consequences of the international community’s inaction against the militia and its regional sponsors.”
She added: “It will no longer be understood or accepted that any official from a country or international and regional organisation claiming to be passionate about peace in Sudan would engage with militias for whatever reason.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Sudanese government called for the “Wadnura” massacre to be regarded as a turning point in the international community’s perception of the Rapid Support Forces, thereby considering them a terrorist organization that poses a threat to all humanity.
She noted that this turning point requires all governments and international and regional institutions to treat the Rapid Support Forces, its leaders, members, sponsors, supporters and those who justify their crimes in the same way as ISIS and Boko Haram.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the governments and entities that provided the militias with weapons, equipment and funds and facilitated their transit were full partners in the massacres and atrocities they committed against the Sudanese people as they “will pay the price for this bloody partnership.”
The report emphasizes that governments and entities that provide platforms and bases for leaders and personnel of the Rapid Support Forces and its political wing to hold political meetings and conduct propaganda activities are also complicit in the crimes.
The Sudanese authorities have also accused the UAE and Chad of providing facilities as well as logistical and military assistance to MSF, which has enjoyed relations and support from many African countries, including Ethiopia and Kenya, leading to strained diplomatic relations with the two countries to the point of expelling the ambassadors.
