Ministry of Defence takes leading role during NATO summit in The Hague 2025 News Project

The annual NATO summit will be held on June 24, 25 and 26, 2025 World Forum In The Hague. This has just been announced. This is the first time that the Alliance meeting is being held in the Netherlands. Around 10,000 soldiers and other defence personnel are deployed to perform security, military presence and transport tasks, among others.

The Royal Gendarmerie has an important role to play in this regard, given the security measures. Some 6,000 delegations are expected to come to Hofstadt, including many heads of state and government. Another 2,000 national and international journalists will travel to The Hague to cover the summit.

Minister Kaisa Orlonlon called NATO more important than ever. “The world situation shows that as NATO countries we must work together and in solidarity. This summit underscores the importance of this cooperation.”

It’s a great honor

During the 2023 NATO summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, the Netherlands was asked to host the 2025 summit. This request was approved at the time. Jan van Zanen, mayor of The Hague, said it was an honor for him to host the summit in The Hague. “As an international city for peace and justice, The Hague is the ideal host city for this summit.”
