Minister of Social Solidarity Dr. Maya Morsi received a delegation from the Aswan International Women’s Film Festival, which included Ambassador Mervat Al-Talawi, Chairperson of the Festival’s Board of Directors, screenwriter Mohamed Abdel Khaleq, Festival President, journalist Hassan Abu El-Ella, Festival President, and Dr. Azza Kamel, Vice Chairperson of the Festival’s Board of Directors.
The Festival delegation congratulated the Minister of Social Solidarity on his assumption of the Ministry and reviewed the preparations for the Festival’s ninth edition next year.
During the meeting, Dr. Maya Morsi stressed the ongoing cooperation between the Ministry and the festival, especially as it carries an important message of support for Egyptian women and young talents in Egypt’s southern region.
The Festival delegation also thanked the Ministry of Solidarity for its efforts to support the influential film competition, during which films produced by civil society work entities compete, seeking the development of those works that represent the development of tools used to document and publicize civil society issues through cinematic material.
It is noteworthy that the 9th Aswan International Women’s Film Festival, named after Arab singer Umm Kulthum to celebrate her fiftieth anniversary, was organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Tourism, and Social Solidarity, the National Council for Women, the Governorate of Aswan and the Syndicate of Cinematographers.
