The delegation of the festival invited the Minister of Culture to attend and hold a dialogue with Egyptian filmmakers, especially the Hurghada Youth Film Festival, which is the first film festival launched after the Ministry took charge, and the delegation introduced the characteristics of the second film festival to the Minister. He appreciated the film festival, competitions, seminars and artistic workshops, and emphasized the importance of the youth film festival supported and sponsored by the state, represented by the Ministry of Culture and other ministries. : It will not be limited to supporting cultural and artistic activities, but is committed to holding film festivals that offer different types of films and quality, such as the Hurghada Film Festival for youth films.
The Minister of Culture announced his full support for all festivals in Egypt that showcase the true face of Egyptian art and creativity and showcase talent in all areas of filmmaking.
Screenwriter Mohamed Basusi thanked the Ministry of Culture for its support and sponsorship of the festival, and said: The Ministry of Culture has done a lot to organize the first edition of the festival in a dazzling manner, which is in line with the unprecedented situation. The achievements that Egypt is currently witnessing are writing the history of its new republic.
Journalist Qadri Al-Hajjar said that since its first edition, the festival has been keen on developing parallel activities that promote the discovery, development and capabilities of young film talents, including workshops on the production of various films and the transfer of expertise. During its opening ceremony, it paid tribute to some Egyptian and Arab film stars and their makers, and presented some of their immortal works during its activities.
The Hurghada Festival is organized by the Funoon Culture and Media Foundation and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Red Sea Governorate, Cairo Airlines and the Sunrise Garden Beach Hotel. The festival will be held from September 19 to 25, 2024 and will include a youth film competition for first works by directors and writers, or feature and short films addressing youth issues and a student film competition. A Green Award is awarded to films that support the concept of protecting the environment and climate.
