Minister of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sevlid Hurtich today visited Bratunak and visited the sites where migrants who tried to cross the border from Serbia into Bosnia and Herzegovina died. The visit was organized to assess the situation on the ground and to evaluate whether additional measures are needed to protect the human rights of migrants and safeguard the safety of local residents who provide assistance to migrants. He expressed concern about the challenges faced by migrants trying to cross the border, stressing the need to make more efforts to ensure their safety, while also protecting the interests and security of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He symbolically placed 11 roses into the Drina River in tribute to the 11 innocent victims who tragically lost their lives in the area. He also held a meeting with the Mayor of the Municipality of Bratunak, Lazar Prodanovic, to discuss possible measures to improve the management of the migrant situation. The Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina will intensify its cooperation with local authorities and international organizations in the coming period to ensure effective support for the management of the migrant situation. It was concluded that close cooperation between State, Entity and local authorities is needed for this purpose.
