Minister Jean Damascene Bizimana, a former youth minister before the genocide, said he saw children being killed in front of him.

He added: “When they got there, they made a medicine called Qingtian, which was a medicine that killed insects, killed moths, and another one that was mixed with water and it was similar in color to milk, but it was a strong poison, and a person who drank it would die, in less than 10, 15 minutes. They used this medicine regularly and beat the Tutsi and treated them when there were no enemy attacks and so on.
Eugene Murangwa, a former player for Rayon Sports who participated in the event before the genocide against the Tutsi, said in his testimony that sports could be destructive if abused.
He said: “Sport was used to make the genocide more violent, sport after the Tutsi genocide was used to mend the hearts of Rwandans and help us rebuild, sport is a great thing, if used well it can make a great contribution, a good result, if used poorly it can ruin it. Let us work to use sport to build the Rwanda we want.”
Those attending the commemoration for employees of the Ministry of Youth and Organisation were informed of the supernatural cruelty inflicted on the Tutsi at the second roadblock in Muhanga district.
Sports Minister Aurore Mimosa Munyangaju has charged the youths to understand that they are the heart and soul of the country as they play a role in supporting development in sports, culture and the arts.
“All of this is important to build our country where we respect the rights of everyone, without discrimination and division. We will remember the former MIJEUMA workers, athletes from various sports, artists and youth who died in the genocide in 1994,” he said.

He added: “They wanted to contribute to Rwanda winning the championship and what we have to do today is to pay tribute to them, leave a good legacy, honour them by working together with integrity and as children of Rwanda, remind each other of our responsibility to build a bright future.”
Youth and Arts Development Minister Abdallah Utumatwishima asked artistes to build love so that if another person deceives them, he will find it impossible.

“We have to build love, we have to fight for it, we have to build love in artists, we have to build love in creativity, in movies, in songs, there’s so much, we hear it and it goes deep into our hearts,” he said.
On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, the 30th anniversary of the Tutsi genocide ended in preparation for the presidential and parliamentary elections scheduled for July.
