Miley Cyrus is proud of her rise. The singer of “Hannah Montana” fame is now the youngest person to be named a Disney Legend, and she was moved to tears as she accepted the honor to a standing ovation from 12,000 fans at the D23 Expo on Sunday, where she recalled when she began working on the series in 2005.

“I got a taste of life, and from that moment on, I didn’t want anything else,” Grammy winner Cyrus said of her first experience on the show.

“I stand here and I’m so proud to be Hannah Montana,” she continued. “In many ways, this award is dedicated to Hannah and all of her incredible and loyal fans.”

Cyrus is one of 14 artists honored as Disney Legends this year. Angela Bassett, Jamie Lee Curtis, James L. Brooks, James Cameron, Harrison Ford, Frank Oz, Kelly Ripa, Oscar-winning composer John Williams; Disney costume designer Colleen Atwood; tour guide and producer Martha Blanding; artist and writer Steve Ditko, animator Mark Henn and theme park designer Joe Rohde are also honored.
