Friday, August 30dayMiami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Miami-Dade County District 5 Commissioner Eileen Higgins will attend the grand opening of Haley Sofge Apartments along with multifamily developer Related Group. The Haley Sofge Preservation Project is an extensive restoration of the Haley Sofge public housing building located at 800 NW 13th Avenue, across from Marlins Stadium.
Originally built in 1973, Haley Sofge 800 is a 240-unit, 13-story building that has been completely renovated and will continue to serve low-income seniors. The scope of the restoration work includes interior demolition of units, installation of impact-resistant windows, and new plumbing and electrical systems. The newly renovated units will also include new kitchens and bathrooms with modern appliances as well as new roofs, security systems, landscaping and other amenities. Ground-level amenities include a multi-purpose room, fitness center, computer lab, central laundry facility, beauty salon and domino board game room. The building was originally constructed without central air conditioning, was later retrofitted with portable units, and now has central air conditioning as part of the renovation. The renovation project has received Emerald Certification under the national green building standard.
The total development cost of Preserving Hayley Sofchi was $95.2 million, of which Miami-Dade County allocated $24.3 million as a purchase capital mortgage, representing the seller’s financing of the value of the improvements.
This milestone marks the completion of the ambitious sixth phase of the River Parc master plan, one of the largest mixed-income redevelopment projects in Miami-Dade County. When Phase 10 is completed in 2027, the community will include more than 2,500 units of affordable, workforce and market-rate apartments.
