After a five-year hiatus, MediaCorp’s signature talent discovery show Star Study is set to return to unearth future stars with the elusive “X Factor”. The show will begin with three rounds of open auditions, to be held on July 6 and 7 at Funan Central and July 13 at Orchard Central.

Since its launch in 1988, Star Search has played an important role in discovering and nurturing some of Singapore’s most popular stars, including Sammi Cheng, Tan Hon Wai, Chow Chor Meng, Lee Boon Che, Lin Xiao Feng, Qi Yu Wu, Chen Feng Ling, Ya Hui and Zhang Ze Tong. Star Search is now in its 12th issue

Candidates aged between 17 and 30 must pass a series of challenges before they can be selected in an open audition. First, they will be tested on their ability to express different emotions; then, they will have the opportunity to demonstrate their physical strength and endurance as well as their wisdom and knowledge.

Once shortlisted, the 20 rising stars will be selected by a panel of judges comprised of industry veterans. They will embark on an exciting five-month journey, with plenty of mentoring and thrilling elimination rounds, designed to discover their true potential and reveal who will be the next big star. The competition will be fierce, but the rewards for the stars who emerge as the winners are huge, including a brand new BYD car for the top three winners and a MediaCorp contract for the overall winner.

In the meantime, viewers can look forward to witnessing their journey to stardom in the carefully curated five-part series, which will air every Sunday from October 20, culminating in a ‘live’ showdown on November 24.

Angeline Poh, Chief Customer and Corporate Development Officer at MediaCorp, said: “We are delighted to launch the latest edition of ‘Star Hunt’, a cornerstone of MediaCorp’s mission to discover and nurture the next generation of stars in the local entertainment industry. This iconic initiative has played a pivotal role in shaping the Singapore entertainment landscape, launching the careers of many much-loved media personalities. We are delighted to be on this journey again and can’t wait to meet the stars of tomorrow.”
