The Sharqiyah South team played well in the one-day tournament and ended their tournament with flying colours. As many as seven clubs participated in the tournament organised by the Oman Racket Sports Council (ORSC) at the Oasis Badminton Academy in Qarah. “Recently, the Masirah team won the 2024 Oman Squash Club Championship. This showcased the club’s top efforts in racket sports and it was a great opportunity to appreciate their hard work,” he said.

“The junior badminton championship is being held in conjunction with World Badminton Day. In addition, the Ministry of Sports of the Sultanate of Oman has organised a number of events. The ‘Badminton in Parks, Gardens and Beaches’ programme, launched in April last year, has expanded its activities and this month, it was held in Ibra and Salalah on Friday as part of World Badminton Day,” he said.
“One of the main objectives of the National U-17 Badminton Championship is to discover some promising new faces for the national team as they will be representing the country in foreign tournaments in the coming period,” the ORSC chief concluded.
ORSC board member Ruqaya al Omairi said the tournament was a very competitive one. “This tournament was a great opportunity for all the coaching staff to see the players improve. The competition was very intense, especially in the finals. We will host more tournaments in the coming months,” she said.
