NEWARK – A memorial service for Marshall R. “Bud” Hoy, 67, of Newark, Ohio, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at Henderson-Van Atta-Stickel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Newark, with burial to follow in Newark Memorial Gardens. Marshall passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 13, 2018, at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark, Ohio. He was born on March 7, 1951 in Newark, Ohio to the late Donna Jean (Shaw) Dickerson. Marshall was a family man who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was always there to help them with good advice. He had a great sense of humor at times, and he will always be remembered as a kind, caring person. He worked for the City of Newark Street Department for 30 years. He could fix and restore almost any car. Marshall was also a very talented woodworker and enjoyed gardening and working in the yard. He is survived by his wife, Linda, whom he married on March 2, 1974, of 44 years; a daughter, Misty L. (Timothy) Grigsby; a son, Jason E. (Jennifer) Hoey; a brother, Andy Hoey; two sisters, Sally Carroll and Jana Cable; and five grandchildren, Adrienne Hoey, Shelby Grigsby, Justin Hoey, Rylee Grigsby and Kelsey Grigsby. In addition to his parents, Marshall was preceded in death by his sister, Joan Hoey Brookwall.
