Maritsa champions begin preparations for the new season – Volleyball – BG Volleyball

Bulgarian women’s volleyball champions Maritsa (Plovdiv) started preparations for the new season 2024-2025 with 9 women’s volleyball players. Marichanki held their first class in Lauta Hall.

Marica’s new coach Ahmetcan Elsimsek will join the team after returning from the Paris Olympics in midweek. The champion mentor is the great Giovanni Guidetti at the Paris Olympics and the staff of the Serbian national women’s volleyball team.

According to tradition, volleyball players and coaches are welcomed with bread made by the team hostess, Lyubka.

The first workout was done entirely in the gym.

Two of the new members are starting with the team – German nationals Vanessa Agbotabi and Larina Doshkova, as well as Alexandra Kitipova and Diana Borisova from the club school, who will join the Maritsa women’s team for the first time. Zhana Todorova, Dobrina Hristoskova, Borislava Sykova, Lora Slavcheva and Mila Pashkuleva start today from last season’s team.

At a later stage the squad will be joined by the national women’s under-20 team, who are currently competing in the European Championships in Sofia.

Last season, the Yellow and Blues won the league title and the Bulgarian Cup again and will play in the Champions League group stage for the eighth time in a row, where their opponents will be the current Champions League champions Italy. The winner of the match between Antonio Carraro Imoko (Conegliano), the Polish women’s team (Rzeszów) and either Bosnia’s Gatsko RD Suislaion (Gatsko) or Croatia’s Mladost (Zagreb).

Maritsa opens the new Champions League season at home against Levski (Sofia), while the first match of the Champions League group stage will be in early November – a visit to the Polish women’s team (Rzeszów).
