Fresh, simple, safe, authentic. This is how it shows Maria Becerracalled Girl from Argentinawhen he spoke to this newspaper via Zoom from his home in his country. The 24-year-old is from Quilmes and is currently on a world tour. #Tour24 This includes Ecuador.
Therefore, the former youtuber will soon visit us in October to sing her most popular and memorable songs, e.g. Lie to me, Empty Heart, Automatic yes First Notice.
During the interview, the artist, who is engaged to singer J Rei, spoke about her upcoming shows in the country, her recent collaborations, her mental health taking a break from social media, and her next album, which he is currently working on.
How did you feel when you found out you were coming to Ecuador?
Well, the truth is that I was extremely happy and very eager to get to know the country. This was my first time singing in Ecuador. It’s a place I really wanted to get to know because my best friend is from there, born in Guayaquil.. His name is Xavier and he’s my producer and I produce all my songs with him, so that’s nothing. Ecuador has this huge advantage. I’m really looking forward to meeting him.
What have you heard from Ecuadorian fans?
Yes, well, they sent me a lot of messages, I also saw them these days, well They showed me that I was trending on Twitter (X) because I said something about José Delgado. So it’s nothing, I’m really happy.
I feel like the people there are really funny. I really like the Ecuadorian humor. Xavier has been showing me memes and videos and stuff from there, and it seems like a country with a lot of humor, and I would love to talk to the people there and hear their accents and jokes. I would really like to meet them.
José Delgado is a journalist here, how did you get to know him?
Let me tell you, my best friend has lived in Argentina for about twelve years, but, his TikTok algorithm is Ecuador.
I mean, he watched all the videos of Ecuador, and he He showed me a lot of stuff he saw on social networks. Jose Delgado And all the memes and funny things he does and says. He is truly an incredible character for me. I would love to meet him and I hope to meet him when I go there.
What will your presentation in Quito be like? What surprises do you have in store?
Well, he exhibit It’s like what we did at Rio Argentino (Memorial Stadium), but on a smaller stage. It’s the same. exhibitThe same choreography, the same visuals and the spectacular and similar lighting effects will also blow you away.
The fact is, it is a Hide SasakiI say this not because it’s mine, but because objectively, it’s a great exhibitworked perfectly from start to finish It has a complete relationship.
I think musically it’s going to be a really good concert as well. I’ve got some incredible musicians like the arrangements that the music director has made. I’m really happy and excited that you get to see it.
You recently proposed a collaboration with Gloria Trevi (eraser), how did this topic come about?
It all started when Andrés and Mauricio Torres showed me the song. They were the producers and the composers. Then they sent me the song and told me, “Look, we made this song for you. Tell us what you think.”
The truth is that when I heard the song I loved it, I loved it for the first time, and it was something I had never done before. Although it was pop music, it was more reminiscent of the sound of Mexico. It was a genre I had hardly tried in my life, so I recorded it and sent it to Gloria.
I thought she was perfect for this song from the beginning because of the type of lyrics she writes and the themes she represents, such as resentment and betrayal. She sang a lot of songs with an open mind. For me it was perfect.
Did you know her before? How did you feel when the subject came up?
Yes, I know her because my mother always listened to her when I was a child. I grew up listening to his music.. In fact, my mother has always admired Gloria greatly, so that’s why I knew her but never met her until now.
I feel like whenever something happens to me, all of a sudden when I’m working on a song with an artist that I admire or that I’ve known since I was a kid, it’s a really huge thing for me.
There are those moments in life when you think about everything you’ve been through and how wonderful it is to have achieved all these dreams, these goals, and I got to be able to share stages or studies with these incredible people who have had a career and such great experiences, and these situations make me feel so lucky.
How do you fit into your career, musically speaking?
In fact, I feel like that process has culminated in this album. I’ve been thinking about this album for over a year now, and working on the songs for it, you see, just trying to find the genres that I’d like to experiment with.
I’m always looking for new things to do because I like to challenge myself, I like to learn, listen and expand my knowledge. So nothing, it was a very intense trip, We did a lot of work on this album, we recorded it in hotels during the tour, while traveling, it was very chaotic, but I’m glad that stage is over.
I’m happy that I can meet projects on time, give them the breathing room they deserve, and understand that it’s okay to take my time if I want to do something of quality. I don’t rush anything. I don’t let anything bother me because I want to get things done and not release songs like hamburgers or anything like that.. This is important.
What details can you share about your next project?
Well, it’s pretty secretive.
The only thing I can tell you about my next album is that it will have a lot of songs, more than any album I’ve ever released. I’m very happy about that because I’ve always wanted an album that has so many songs, so many different genres and themes, but obviously all tied together with the same aesthetic.
What do you enjoy most about being on stage?
It’s just a fantasy. It’s a very unique moment, everything is perfect at that moment, it’s pure adrenaline and beauty. You see people clapping, dancing, and you’re happy because they are enjoying your song. I don’t think I’ve ever felt judged on stage, you see, it’s just a sea of emotion and beautiful feelings.
How do you manage your time while on tour?
Well, I finished the first part of the tour a few days ago. This is a travel It lasted two months, the longest I’ve ever been in. It was hard to manage the distance at times and miss my country, my food, my house and my pets.
After touring for so long, I was exhausted physically and mentally, had very little sleep, and ate a little poorly, even though I was very consistent with my diet and was very strict with it. But it was beautiful, The fact is, it’s so nice to go to another country and they welcome you with open arms and treat you with so much love and warmth, and I’m so grateful for that..
In part 2 we are going to go to many places. I am so excited to travel around the world with my music in ways I never imagined.
You recently took a photo rest From X (Twitter), how do you handle it? hatred And those bad reviews?
The truth is, I believed I had learned to cope perfectly and that I could pretend that nothing mattered to me, but clearly that wasn’t the case.
I’m not going to lie to you, I’ve done a lot of work on this and it’s something I do a lot of introspection on. I also talk about it a lot with my loved ones, I express it and process it with my team.
I’m leaving this social network.
My mental health suffered greatly during this trip to Europe, it all felt terrible and I experienced everything from crying fits to anxiety and panic attacks.
It wakes up every day and reads thousands of offensive things about what I say 👇🏽— LNDA 🇦🇷 (@MariaBecerra22) July 31, 2024
I understand that this is something I have to deal with, that’s it. I’d like to say this had no effect on me, but that would be a lie.I feel like it’s a lie to say that because I think it’s always going to affect you to some degree, but there are still thousands of people talking about you.
I don’t think waking up, opening your phone, and reading something like that does any good to anyone. You may be more or less used to it, you may care more or less about it and make it work hard enough to the point where it doesn’t make you sad, but taking it in large amounts on a daily basis is inevitably going to make you sick in the long run.
As it happens, I’ve been reading my stuff, searching my name, knowing I’d find something bad.. But keep working on it until I really get used to it and it affects me very little, and Understand that what they say does not define me because they are people who do not know me and know nothing about me other than what I decide to show or not show.
Maria Becerra will perform at the General Rumiñahui Coliseum in Quito on Saturday, October 5. Tickets are available through the Boletiland website. (and)
