Residents of Roches-Noires held a peaceful march yesterday, asking authorities to help them avoid further deadly accidents.
Yesterday, the forces of Herosh organized a regional mobilization. Despite the heavy rain at the event site, hundreds of people gathered together and shouted in unison “No” The march started in Haute-Rive and ended in Roches-Noires. Lenine Aukhajan, president of the association, said the peaceful march was aimed at raising awareness of fatal accidents, which have unfortunately become too frequent since the beginning of the year.
“We want everyone to realise that these tragedies devastate many families and that this concerns not only Heroes but the entire country.” He recalled that people often said that one death on the road was one too many. “Through this year’s parade, we also want to present proposals to reduce the number of accidents in our region. For example, we suggest installing speed monitoring cameras. Especially since the road connecting Azurri and Roche-Her is considered a high-accident area, according to government technicians.”
Lenin Ohayon also called for the installation of speed bumps, pedestrian crossings, traffic signs and street lights to prevent more tragedies. “I also asked the heads of Azuri to contribute to this awareness campaign, especially the smart city they are developing.” It should be remembered that the last accident in the area dates back to July 10, when a 50-year-old motorcyclist died after a collision with a car.
