The tea time that was supposed to arrive in Zagreb tonight, after yesterday’s 35-degree temperature, did not quite materialize. This was also noticed by Tanja Renko, a former DHMZ meteorologist who now does weather forecasting for RTL.
Renko wrote on Xu: “The temperature in ZG did not drop below 26 degrees for most of the night, and at 6am this morning it was already hot in many places, especially the seaside.”
According to DHMZ data, the temperature in Zagreb last night was around 26/27 degrees Celsius.
But the worst night was in Split, where temperatures didn’t even drop below 30 degrees before morning. Dubrovnik residents also faced highs of 27 to 29 degrees tonight.
DHMZ forecasts fair weather today with hot, sometimes very hot weather. Inland, clouds will be moderate in intensity with isolated thundershowers possible in the second half of the day, especially in the east, which may be stronger. North and northeast winds will be weak to moderate.
The Adriatic coast is mostly moderate from northwest to southwest, with storms along the coast in the morning and evening, and strong winds at the foot of the Velebit River. The daily maximum temperature is 32 to 37 °C, slightly higher in Dalmatia.
The mainland part of Croatia is under an orange weather alert today due to high temperatures, while the entire coast is red.
As for the weather outlook for Thursday, DHMZ expects mostly sunny and hot weather, with very hot weather in most areas of Dalmatia. On Saturday, there will be isolated showers and thunderstorms, with thunderstorms in some areas, mainly inland areas and the Adriatic Sea. Light to moderate winds from the northeast and north.
On the Adriatic Sea, there is a weak to moderate storm in parts of the area at the foot of Velebit, and a strong storm in the northwest and southwest during the noon and afternoon.
